“One of MOBY's great strengths is its development team. The program was created by comic book retailers and the software developers worked in a comic retail environment; the program is tested constantly in the comic retail environment at the top level of development. This makes the program extremely powerful and geared specifically for comic book retail at each level.”

“A shortcoming of MOBY POS comes from one of its biggest strengths. MOBY POS was created by comic book retailers and software developers who worked in a comic retail environment and they are closely tied in with the MOBY POS user community. It also means that if there are ways you want the program to fit with what you already do, it's remarkably easy to contact the developers and see if your changes can be included in the next round of features updates. This also leads to the biggest shortcoming: with the program constantly improving it's difficult to keep the manual up-to-date with the features.”
When asked why someone should choose MOBY POS over a competing system, Amanda had this to say: “Many stores try to make generic POS systems work, but they don't get the level of information they could from a comic book store POS. MOBY POS stands out from other comic book store POS systems with the level of information it makes available and with its level of inventory tracking. The developers are tied into the comic book retail community and are invested in creating a program that will help retailers work with the widest variety of product lines and vendors.”
“MOBY POS recently offered a free weekend of training for retailers who were just getting started with the program or for current users who wanted a more in-depth look at what MOBY POS can do. I was impressed with the level of training and the effort and dedication of the creators of MOBY POS. They don't just want to sell you a program; they want to see you using it and see it benefit your store.”
Muse Comics, in Missoula, MT and owned by Amanda Emmert has been retailing comics since 1996. “Since the time our sister store, The Splash Page in Billings, MT, opened in 1994 we’ve felt using a point of sale system was necessary. It’s been a challenge since then to find one that works best for a comic book store” says Amanda.
“We've used several point of sale systems before switching to MOBY POS. MOBY POS offered more features that could improve the way we track and order inventory and handle our subscribers.” Muse Comics started using MOBY POS in April of 2009.
“Traditional cycle sheets track what's left on the shelf each week, and comic book point of sale systems track what's sold, but MOBY POS is the first program I've seen that allows you to see how many copies have sold, what is left in inventory and whether or not that inventory is on the shelf or in pull boxes, and if it's left in a pull box, which box it's in, and if it's sold, who bought it.”
“And you can see any amount of that information while you're placing an order. The level of information that MOBY tracks and reports at every step of sales and ordering is very impressive.”
